TITLE: Human Resources Generalist 
DEPT: Administration and Finance
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
STATUS: Non-Exempt (37.5-hour week position)


Summary:

Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources (HR) for the organization, maintain compliance with all State and Federal regulations and HR related legislation. Supports the agency’s mission and administrative functions.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Essential Duties/Functions:

This position requires such typical work operations and responsibilities as, but not limited to:

  • Oversees and supports all aspects of staff personnel including: recruiting, background checks, hiring, onboarding, morale, grievances, record keeping, and tracking performance evaluation.
  • Tracks job postings/outreach, job applications, new hire and resignation/termination information necessary for non-discrimination compliance & reporting to state agencies / funders. 
  • Conducts exit interviews with departing employees.
  • Supports management acquiring temporary help as needed.
  • Supports the administration of Kuhn’s benefits and insurance program.
  • Responsible for processing and managing employee leaves such as: Family Medical Leave (in compliance with State and Federal regulations), CT Paid Leave, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with Department of Labor and OSHA regulations and relevant postings as required.
  • Stays abreast of legislation and best practices related to Human Resource functions.
  • Supports development and reviews the Employee Handbook and personnel policies and procedures in accordance with all legal requirements and under the standards outlined by Kuhn leadership, and advises when revisions are required.
  • Coordinates with input from Administration, agency staff training supporting compliance with all regulations and requirements.
  • Oversees administrative functions for Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) Medication Administration Certification process.  
  • Supports advocacy efforts, management initiatives, and is able to communicate and interact successfully with a variety of people & can discern boundary and confidentiality rules.
  • Able to accomplish departmental goals, objectives and responsibilities for the HR, and to lead/manage special projects.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Duties:

  • Provides recommendations to leadership specific to recruitment and retention initiatives; engages employees as needed.
  • Has a strong understanding of HR systems, policies and procedures.
  • Involvement in professional and/or trade and civic organizations.
  • Attends job relevant seminars/conferences.
  • The ability to successfully complete the administrative activities of this position.
  • The ability to analyze and resolve day to day issues within the agency policy.
  • The ability to meet deadlines; complete all reports and standards within a timely manner.
  • Utilizes resources to accomplish goals of department.
  • Works with and assists others as required.  Performs additional duties at the request of the management.
  • Responsible for performing work duties in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety procedures and providing input into enhancing overall company safety.

Requirements:

  • B.S Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources related field, experience in a nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Valid CT Driver’s License and available means of transportation.
  • Automobile insurance in force per Kuhn’s specifications when using personal vehicle for work related purposes.
  • Advanced computer skills and competent in computer applications as MS Office software and human resource software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
  • Able to maintain exceptional attendance and timeliness.

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical ability to utilize all office equipment and produce required written and printed documentation.
  • The physical ability to complete required all required administrative functions.
  • The ability to travel to/ from various agency locations, meetings, and seminars as needed.
